OH Predictive Insights Releases Arizona Tourism PollFollowing Holiday Weekend Poll Highlights Arizonan’s Affinity for Cooler Temperatures and Family Gatherings
PHOENIX (June 5, 2016) — OH Predictive Insights has conducted and released an in-depth poll investigating Arizona’s travel habits and trends. Both informational and insightful, the poll results indicate that Arizonans are focused on vacations and adventures with their families.Common Purpose of TravelJune 4, 2016 resultsFamily Vacation46%Adventures18%Business3.7%Spiritual/Religious1.5%Friends & Fun13.4%Special Events3.7%Other13.5%
According to the poll, 75 percent of Arizonans vacation at least once a year, with a majority of these vacations planned with family members and serving the purpose of annual family vacations. The Arizona summer heat is a primary influence when planning vacations among residents. To escape the extreme heat, half of vacation travel in Arizona occurs during the summer time. In order to enjoy cooler temperatures, preferred destinations for Arizonans are Northern Arizona and California.Preferred Time To TravelJune 4, 2016 resultsSummer46%Fall29.1%Winter8.6%Spring16.4%
“What I found interesting was that majority of Arizonans are not big spenders on vacations,” Mike Noble, managing partner and chief pollster of OH Predictive Insights, said. “The average length of vacations is only about three to five days, with the most common mode of transportation being a car. What is also very intriguing, is that 32 percent of Arizonans have never traveled internationally. Considering our proximity to Mexico, this number is rather high.”
In addition, while business drives much of the travel, a majority of these individuals extend their business trips to a personal vacation. In order to book these business and leisure vacations, a majority of Arizonans prefer to utilize online travel sites or contacting establishments directly. Among these travel sites, Expedia and Travelocity are the preferred engines to book vacation plans.
“OH Predictive Insights is excited to release this tourism poll,” Noble added. “OH Predictive Insights is a unique entity having the ability to conduct both political and non-political industry surveys. We are one of the few organizations in the state that have the resources and capabilities to conduct recreational polls, resulting in valued information that organizations across the state would find insightful and beneficial.”
Methodology: This automated survey was completed by OH Predictive Insights on June 4, 2016. Sample respondents were chosen at random. The sample size was 1,362 completed surveys, with a MoE of ± 2.65%
